Arriving in Korea
Before You Leave India
- Visa — Apply for a student (D-2) or researcher (E-3/D-10) visa at the Korean Embassy/Consulate in India well in advance
- Alien Registration Card (ARC) — Must be applied for within 90 days of arrival at the local immigration office
- Medical Insurance — All students must enroll in Korean National Health Insurance (NHIS)
- Bank Account — Open a Korean bank account (Woori, Shinhan, KB Kookmin are common choices)
First Days in Korea
- Register with your university’s international student office
- Apply for Alien Registration Card (ARC) at the local Immigration Office
- Enroll in National Health Insurance if not already covered by university
- Get a Korean SIM card (KT, SKT, or LG U+)
